In this tutorial I will be explaining configuring Domain controller on windows server 2008. This will be applicable to windows server 2008 R2 also.

To configuring domain controller First, go to Start button and go to Run (or press windows button+R) then type dcpromo shown on below screen shot.

system will check active directory services and active directory domain services installation wizard will open as shown on below. click on Next button to go ahead.

Operating system compatibility wizard will open have a look on it and click on Next (In my server i am using windows server 2008. If you are using 2008 R2 it will shown you 2008 R2 system)

In my server currently i don't have domain controller so that I've chosen create a new domain option and click on Next.

This window will ask you to provide domain controller name. Here I have given domain name as dbashare  and click on Next.

This will check check this domain name is available in the forest.

If new name available in the forest automatically will go to below window. Here we need to select forest functional level. In my case i have selected windows server 2008. click on Next to go forward.

Select DNS server option (If your server is stand alone you no need to choose DNS. How ever choosing DNS server is recommended.) and click on Next

In my server i have already assigned IP address so that i chosen First option (Yes, the computer will use dynamically IP address)

To be continued in Part 2..................
